The Highest Honor in Baseball, The Hall of Fame

This week I’m going to introduce what I have implied in the topic, National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. Remember last week I introduced Babe Ruth? He is one of the first five members of the hall of fame!!! Including Ty Cobb, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Honus Wagner and Babe Ruth. Well…I have no idea who they are except for Babe Ruth… Although, they were once very good players…

The museum is set up for three main purpose. First, it is a nonprofit organization for eduation, which means it is probably free to take a visit in it. Only for five dollars per person. Second, people who set up the museum devoted themselves to cultivate the public getting to know the how the development of baseball have the influence to the American culture. This was done by the function of collecting, preserving and exhibiting many different historical relics such as photos, documents or meaningful matches. The last purpose is to give the highest honor to those greatest players with exceptional performances.

In order to step into this palace, players must have at least ten years of experience in MLB and also getting 75 percent of agreement in BBWAA(which means Baseball Writers’ Association of America, an organization specialize in writing baseball related paragraph.) It is really hard to be chosen as a member!! So it is always worthwhile to brag about. (XD)

The God in Baseball, Babe Ruth

If you told someone that you know about baseball, then you must know this guy. Babe Ruth! Some of the people said that he can be the representation of MLB. Take another two for example. When we talk about basketball, we come up with Kobe Bryant for sure. Next, we know Tiger Woods when we think of golf. Last but not least, Babe Ruth is the one that will strike our mind as we mentioned
baseball. The reason why is that he had made a lot of legends. He is so mighty that he was then crowned the greatest player of all times and also be voted to be one of the greatest American.

The first thing he had done is that he ended the dead ball era. This was a era that there was few homeruns because of the quality of the ball is not very good. As a result, it was hard to hit homeruns. After years, the condition of the balls had changed. In the meantime, Babe Ruth started a whirlwind of homerun. That’s why we say he ended the dead ball era.

Second, he had set up many records such as reaching 60 homerun in a season, five times RBI title, twelve times homerun title etc…(I’m kind of lazy to type them all) As you can see, he is a very powerful hitter. However, he was a pitcher when staying in the Boston Red Sox.(He was then traded to New York Yankees, and that’s why there is a so called “Babe Ruth Curse”) He also performed well at that time. We can sum up that he is definitely a genius in baseball!

When he retired, he was voted to be one of the members in the hall of fame, the highest honor for baseball. This will be introduced in the next post.

 this a kind of autobiography

this is his career highlight

A-Rod, The Legend

Remember last week I introduced a powerful pitcher? Well, this week I’m going to introduce a incredible hitter, powerful as well, that is, Alex Rodriguiz from the New York Yankees.

He is the one of the most popular baseball stars in MLB, also the most influential player in the New York Yankees. By the way, he is a comprehensive player, that’s why he owns more salary than any other players. No matter what kind of statistic, including batting average, homeruns, steal bases, RBI ( run batted in, means how many times you have sent a runner to the home plate). To sum up, he is a really amazing player!!

When he was in the senior high, many team groups discovered his potentiality. This makes him be the youngest player to join in MLB in history. Spending only a year to advanced into mlb. This is an another miracle for A-rod. (MLB can be divided into four different parts, 1A,2A,3A, and the well known MLB.) It is truly unbelievable!!
Although he got good records, these years he had been caught using drugs to maintain his high hitter condition. He was then fined very strictly and suspended for many games. For then on, his performance is not as appealing as before, it is really a shame…

his career

some homerun milestone

handsome~

This is the news that he confessed that he used drug.

That all for today~

The Powerful Lefty Pitcher

Today I’m going to introduce a outstanding pitcher of Los Angeles Dodgers, that is, Clayton Kershaw!! Why introduce him? Because I like this pitcher the most!!
Every time when I open the official site of MLB, there is always news about the domination he had made. It seems that it is trivial for him to handle the game!!

There is also a saying to describe him. ”Losing three points in seven innings is called abnormal, losing two points in eight innings is called normal or so so, and performing a complete game or perfect game is a piece of cake for him.”(There are nine innings in a ball game and actually if you lost three points of less is good enough) Although this is really a kind of satire, it is absolute the truth… That why he is called“神之左手” .

We may be curious about why he can be keep creating incredible records. The reason is simple. Because of his pitching gesture, called “over hand” which means you throw the ball over your shoulder. In this way, you could end up increasing the power of the ball, also making the hitter feels sense of oppression.

BTW, He is famous for his nasty curveball as we can take a look at the bottom.

The picture here is his record of this year. We can clearly see that he got a lot of titles such as the most wins, the lowest era(earned run average) and whip(walk plus hits per inning pitched) etc… which no one can compare!

This one is his career stats and is also very excellent!

Amazing defense by Kershaw

That’s all for today~
